The enhancement builds on a previous solution that allowed members to file one claim for all applicable leaves from work, including disability and state or federal leave programs.
The integration connects Sun Life’s three largest business groups, ensuring that members receive all eligible benefits automatically. For example, members filing short-term disability claims will also receive applicable supplemental health benefits, such as hospital indemnity coverage. Similarly, a claim for stop-loss cancer coverage will automatically trigger critical illness benefits, while dental members enrolled in supplemental health will receive a wellness benefit for preventive oral care.
“Often, members do not realise they have enrolled in additional benefits that might also provide coverage for their health conditions,” said Joi Tillman, president, Group Benefits, Sun Life U.S.
“Now, we can do the work for them and provide complete claims coverage across these products. The more we connect our claims data across products, the better we can serve our members and ensure they receive all of their benefits quickly and seamlessly,” commented Bryan Burke, Assistant Vice President of Product Management and Development at Sun Life US
He added: “Data integration is the future of benefits, and we believe that when done securely and safely, it can vastly improve the benefits experience for workers everywhere.”
