MetLife Pet Insurance Partners with Association of Animal Welfare to Boost Pet Care Advocacy
MetLife Pet Insurance has announced a collaborative effort with the Association of Animal Welfare Advancement (AAWA) aimed at supporting pet owners in their journey of caring for their beloved animals.

The collaboration entails the development of informative content addressing pertinent issues surrounding access to veterinary care, alongside the introduction of the MetLife-sponsored Golden Beagle Award, designed to honor innovative animal welfare organizations.

Brian Jorgensen, Head of Pet Insurance at MetLife, emphasised the pivotal role played by animal welfare organizations in extending care and compassion to animals in need. He lauded AAWA for its steadfast support to these institutions, expressing MetLife’s pride in partnering with such a reputable organisation to tackle the financial and logistical hurdles often encountered by pet owners in accessing medical care for their pets.

The collaboration aims to shed light on the challenges faced by pet owners, including financial constraints and geographical barriers that may hinder their ability to seek veterinary care. By leveraging platforms such as podcasts, blog posts, newsletters, and other mediums, MetLife Pet Insurance and AAWA intend to provide valuable insights, showcase innovative solutions, and advocate for potential legislative measures to facilitate improved access to pet healthcare.

“Access to care is a critical issue facing animal welfare organizations and pet parents alike,” said Jim Tedford, President and CEO of AAWA. “We are pleased to be working with MetLife Pet Insurance, a market leader, to identify potential obstacles to providing care for pets and spotlighting both potential solutions and actions being taken to address this issue.”

In addition to content development, MetLife Pet is sponsoring the Golden Beagle Award, which will be presented for the first time at the November 2024 AAWA conference. This award will recognize an animal welfare organization for its innovative approach to addressing the challenges of helping larger breed dogs find loving homes. The recipient will receive $20,000 to put toward their work.

“An essential part of MetLife Pet Insurance’s mission is helping pets find and stay in a home that is right for them,” said Jorgensen. “The organisations we will recognise with the Golden Beagle are doing important work in finding homeless pets their forever homes and we are excited to showcase and support the good they are doing in their communities.”
