The move builds on Feather’s success in simplifying personal insurance for expats and marks its entry into the commercial insurance market – one long burdened by bureaucracy and outdated systems.
Feather Business Insurance offers coverage options tailored to international teams, including health, life, and pension insurance. These benefits are essential for attracting and retaining expat talent, who often face complex and opaque insurance systems across Europe. By digitising the process for both HR teams and employees, Feather removes the friction typically associated with offering cross-border insurance benefits.
“Businesses in Europe, especially small and mid-sized ones, often struggle to offer substantial insurance benefits,” said Rob Schumacher, CEO and co-founder of Feather. “Their traditional insurance partners aren’t built to support them, especially in pension insurance, where too often international employees miss out on thousands of euros, locked into high-fee products. On the other hand, the commercial insurance experience for most professionals starts and ends with an annual letter. We’re retaliating against this experience.”
Led by Nicolai Schieffer, Feather’s newly appointed Head of B2B, the business insurance division is designed to help employers navigate local compliance with ease while offering their teams more modern, borderless protection. The platform is multilingual, mobile-friendly, and intuitive-transforming international onboarding into a smoother, more welcoming experience.
“Feather is a no-brainer for companies where expats make up at least 10% of the workforce,” added Schumacher. “We’re alleviating HR headaches with a solution that overcomes historical barriers associated with multi-lingual paperwork and complex local obligations.”
Feather is also offering professional liability, general liability, and cybersecurity coverage. With the recent EU Cybersecurity Directive (NIS-2) placing greater obligations on companies to protect against cyber threats, Feather’s tailored cyber coverage responds directly to these growing compliance and risk concerns.
The launch of Feather Business Insurance follows the company’s broader European expansion strategy, supported by a $6M funding round and key leadership appointments in France and Spain. Originally founded in Germany, Feather continues to push toward its goal of making insurance accessible, understandable, and valuable for the growing population of globally mobile professionals and the companies that employ them.
