The collaboration signifies one of bolttech’s initial ventures into commercial operations within the country, aiming to enhance customer experience by offering embedded device protection services to Back Market’s clientele.

The partnership will see the introduction of a bespoke device protection service named ‘Back Up,’ tailored specifically for Back Market’s customers. This innovative service encompasses a range of benefits, including complimentary data recovery services for damaged phones and specialised repair solutions. ‘Back Up’ is designed to provide comprehensive coverage against everyday risks such as breakage, corrosion, and liquid damage, ensuring peace of mind for users of refurbished devices procured through Back Market’s platform.

Speaking about the move, Thibaud Hug de Larauze, Chief Executive Officer, Back Market, said: “We set up a dedicated local team in Japan last year when we noticed a growing interest in refurbished smartphones in Asia Pacific, with customers keen to explore the benefits of the circular economy and creative ways to extend the lifespan of their devices. We’re excited to build on this partnership and celebrate the launch of ‘Back Up’ with bolttech in Japan. We hope this gives customers even greater peace of mind that their devices can be further protected against unwanted damage.”
