American Growth Insurance (AGI) has completed its first acquisition, purchasing Baltimore-based independent agency Heller-Kowitz Insurance Advisors, marking the first deal since the AI-enabled brokerage platform launched earlier this year.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2014, Heller-Kowitz provides personal lines, commercial lines, employee benefits and life insurance. The agency has also been recognised by Reagan Consulting as a Best Practices agency.
The acquisition is the first step in AGI’s strategy to build a national network of operator-led agencies, beginning in the Mid-Atlantic region. The company acquires independent brokerages and migrates them onto its proprietary AI-powered technology platform while retaining existing local leadership teams.
Heller-Kowitz will continue operating under its current leadership while gaining access to AGI’s technology platform and expanded carrier network.
AGI launched in 2026 with approximately $70 million in committed capital from Rockbridge Growth Equity and Atomic to acquire independent insurance agencies. The company said its AI-first operating model is designed to improve agency productivity while supporting long-term growth through technology and operational efficiencies.
