Utica National Insurance Group has appointed Abel Travis as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective July 27, 2026, as the insurer continues to strengthen its executive leadership team.

In the role, Travis will oversee key operational functions across the organization and work closely with senior leadership to advance the company’s strategic priorities, improve operational performance and enhance the experience of policyholders, independent agents and employees.

Extensive insurance leadership experience

Travis joins Utica National from Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company, where he served as Senior Vice President of Affiliate Operations and Companies, leading a portfolio of businesses and transformation initiatives.

Before joining Brotherhood Mutual, he held executive leadership positions at AF Group, The Hanover Insurance Group, Chubb, Travelers and The Hartford.

His experience spans underwriting, operations, product management, innovation, strategy and business transformation. Throughout his career, he has led operational improvement programmes, launched new businesses, supported profitable growth initiatives and helped modernise insurance operations.
