The enhancements focus on streamlining the onboarding process, improving driver-passenger classification accuracy, and advancing crash detection models. CMT has also introduced new tools for developers, making it easier than ever to create and manage telematics programs on the DriveWell Fusion platform.
These updates reflect CMT’s ongoing commitment to improving the user experience and expanding the capabilities of its telematics technology, which has analyzed the driving behavior of over 40 million users globally.
Simplified Onboarding and Enhanced Driver/Passenger Classification
CMT’s new streamlined onboarding process simplifies how users connect their driving apps with the CMT Tag, a telematics device placed on the windshield. The process now automatically links the Tag to users’ accounts, increasing adoption rates and reducing the need for customer support.
Additionally, CMT has refined its algorithms that differentiate between drivers and passengers, achieving a 97% accuracy rate in driver-passenger classification. A study by the University of Pennsylvania Medicine’s Nudge Unit confirmed this high level of precision. The update also ensures a seamless transfer of telematics data when users upgrade their smartphones, preserving discounts and avoiding disruptions for insurers and customers alike.
Advanced Crash Detection for Improved Claims Processing
CMT’s latest enhancements to its crash detection technology leverage cutting-edge methodologies similar to those used in advanced AI models. These new crash detection models provide improved accuracy across all crash severities, offering insurers more reliable data for faster claims processing and enhanced crash response.
Millions of drivers already benefit from CMT’s crash technology, and the company’s integration of Apple’s SafetyKit signals into its AI models further expands crash detection and response capabilities. The DriveWell Fusion platform unifies data across devices, ensuring a consistent user experience when crashes are detected by both Apple and CMT systems.
The introduction of Claims Exchange offers insurers a new level of insight, using telematics data to provide a comprehensive view of multi-vehicle crashes involving drivers on the CMT platform. This data-rich reconstruction helps insurers conduct faster investigations and make more accurate liability decisions, expediting the claims process and enabling quicker settlements for policyholders.
New Developer Tools for Telematics Programme Management
CMT’s latest update also introduces new tools aimed at developers. These include support for the Flutter and React Native frameworks, allowing developers to maintain a single codebase for both Android and iOS applications. The update also includes new best-practice guides for integrating features like Crash Assistance, Eco Score, and Fuel Score into telematics apps, simplifying deployment and maintenance.
Additionally, CMT has enhanced its privacy management tools with a new API that simplifies data management and privacy compliance for enterprises and app developers.
“Our latest advancements create seamless experiences for end users, enterprises, and app developers,” said Hari Balakrishnan, CMT’s co-founder and CTO.
“Our crash models have been improving rapidly, fueled by ground truth from our IoT devices and by leveraging the latest advances in machine learning, while incorporating signals from Apple SafetyKit further improves coverage.”
He added: “And with our enhanced developer tools, accurate insights, and on-boarding and retention tools, it’s easier than ever to build large-scale safe-driving programs on the DriveWell Fusion platform to engage and delight users.”
