TELUS Corporation has announced the acquisition of Workplace Options, a top provider of integrated employee wellbeing solutions to Fortune 500 companies, in a deal valued at approximately $500 million CAD (US$350 million), net of assumed debt.

The acquisition marks a major step in TELUS Health’s strategy to become a global leader in digital-first health and wellbeing services.

As part of the transaction, private equity firm GTCR will invest US$200 million, bringing deep healthcare sector expertise to support TELUS Health’s growth and innovation initiatives. The strategic partnership aims to expand TELUS Health’s global presence and accelerate its capabilities in delivering Employee and Family Assistance Programs (EFAP) and other wellbeing services at scale.

The acquisition of Workplace Options adds significant reach to TELUS Health’s service network, now covering more than 150 million lives in over 200 countries and territories. It establishes a global network of more than 180,000 providers and combines TELUS Health’s robust infrastructure and AI-powered platforms with Workplace Options’ digital EFAP capabilities.

“Today marks a transformative milestone in our global health technology journey,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS. “By uniting TELUS Health and Workplace Options, we are creating an unprecedented breadth of experience and expertise that will drive global consistency in EFAP and wellbeing solutions in a way that is unmatched in our industry.”

Navin Arora, Executive Vice-President at TELUS and President of TELUS Business Solutions, added, “This is more than an acquisition—it’s an extension of our vision to build one of the most comprehensive suites of health and wellbeing solutions globally. We’re unlocking significant growth opportunities, new revenue streams and economies of scale.”

With a track record of over 65 platform healthcare investments and 250 healthcare transactions, GTCR brings over four decades of experience to the table. The firm will contribute US$200 million to the acquisition, aiming to support TELUS Health’s continued innovation and international expansion.

“We are thrilled to partner with TELUS Health to support its continued growth by leveraging both our deep expertise in the healthcare sector and ability to structure a bespoke transaction,” said Dean Mihas, Co-CEO and Managing Director at GTCR.

Alan King, CEO of Workplace Options, sees the acquisition as a powerful alignment of missions. “By joining forces with TELUS Health, we are aligning with an organization that shares our deep commitment to innovation in EFAP solutions. This marks an exciting new chapter focused on scaling care, connection, and trust in the workplace.”

With this acquisition, TELUS Health continues to strengthen its position as a global force in health and wellbeing—setting a new benchmark for innovation, access, and care in the employee support space.
