Howden appoints Enrico Nanni as CEO, Europe

Howden has announced the appointment of Enrico Nanni as chief executive officer, Europe, effective 1 January 2027.

Nanni, currently chief commercial officer, will continue in that role alongside his new responsibilities, and will report to Luigi Sturani, chief executive officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).

The appointment follows a period of significant expansion for Howden across Europe and reflects the next phase in the evolution of the group’s EMEA business. Building on the success of the past five years, the new structure is intended as the next step in scaling the business across EMEA, while ensuring leadership remains close to local markets, clients, and colleagues. In his new role, Nanni will work closely with Howden’s European chief executive officers to sustain strong organic growth and strengthen collaboration across the region.

Sturani will continue to lead the region as chief executive officer, EMEA, maintaining oversight of Europe while focusing on advancing growth opportunities across the Middle East, Africa, Turkey, and Central Asia.

Luigi Sturani, chief executive officer of Howden EMEA, said Nanni was the right person to lead the region’s next chapter.

“I have worked alongside Enrico since 1997 and know first-hand his ability to build businesses, develop talent and create lasting relationships with clients and partners. Throughout our time working together, he has brought the same energy, ambition and commercial focus to every role,” said Sturani. “Over the past five years at Howden, we have transformed our European business, growing from 11 countries to 30, increasing our team from 1,000 to more than 6,000 people with $8.5 billion in GWP. These achievements reflect the strength of our people and culture, but they also owe a great deal to Enrico’s leadership, energy and relentless focus on growth. Enrico’s deep understanding of our countries and the relationships he has built make him the right person to take on this role. I can think of no one better to lead Europe through the next chapter of our journey.”

Enrico Nanni, chief executive officer of Howden Europe, said he was honoured to take on the role.

“I am honoured to take on this role at such an exciting time for our business. What we have achieved over the past five years is a testament to the talent, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment of our colleagues across the region. Together, we have built a fantastic platform for future growth,” said Nanni. “The foundations are incredibly strong, but there is still so much opportunity ahead. I look forward to working with our country CEOs and teams to continue strengthening offering to clients and markets.”
