Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC) has closed a $40m Series A round led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from First Harmonic. Alongside its $15m seed led by NFDG, the round brings its total funding to $55m.

Founded in 2025, AIUC is building the insurance, audit, and certification infrastructure needed to bring AI agents into the enterprise world. The capital will help extend AIUC's audits, standards, and insurance from agents to frontier models.
The company was founded by Rune Kvist and Rajiv Dattani. Kvist was Anthropic's first product hire, while Dattani was a partner in McKinsey's insurance practice and chief operating officer of METR.
Rajiv Dattani, co-founder of AIUC, drew a parallel with the early days of electricity.
"When electricity was burning down houses, the insurers paying the bill funded Underwriters Laboratories to test and certify products. To this day, the UL mark is on most light bulbs across America. AI needs the same combination of standards, testing and insurance," said Dattani.
Nick Shalek, general partner at Ribbit Capital, said the founders had solved a critical problem.
"Rune & Rajiv broke through the cold-start problem. Aligning the ecosystem of AI builders, enterprises, security leaders, auditors and insurers around a single standard is required. Their insurance rigor, frontier AI experience and relentless focus on their mission are the ideal combination for this problem," said Shalek.
