The new product is backed by Hiscox, an A-rated insurer, ensuring robust protection for enthusiasts.
The policy provides comprehensive coverage for drone equipment valued up to £15,000 and includes public liability insurance of up to £1 million. Key features include protection against physical loss, accidental damage, theft, and “fly-aways.” Additionally, the coverage applies to indoor flights and extends globally, including the USA and Canada.
To enhance the customer experience, claims will be handled by a dedicated Hiscox team. Hobby pilots can access this new insurance directly through Moonrock’s updated website, which also offers improved functionality and information about drone regulations.
Simon Ritterband, Founder and Managing Director of Moonrock, highlighted the growing need for accessible and affordable coverage in the recreational drone market. He said: “Drones can often be an expensive hobby and pilots must also consider the fact their drone might actually injure somebody or damage property. That’s why we believe it is essential to have the right protection in place.
Ritterband added: “There are currently hundreds of thousands of drone operators in the UK, with many of them flying for enjoyment, and we’re really pleased we can now offer this cover for pilots who may have previously found it impossible to get the right insurance. Now the right protection is only a click away.”
