Insureon has partnered with LIO Insurance to expand digital access to specialised commercial insurance for small businesses.
The relationship initially includes a digital pathway for special event insurance, with potential expansion to additional specialty classes. Insureon, part of HUB International, provides a digital agency platform for small business insurance, and the LIO relationship is intended to broaden the range of specialised coverage options available through it for small businesses with niche risks.
Jeff Kroeger, president of Insureon, said the tie-up aligned with the firm’s focus.
“Insureon is focused on making it easier for small business owners to find and purchase the coverage they need, including businesses with more specialized risks,” said Kroeger. “LIO’s specialty underwriting expertise and digital capabilities align well with the experience we want to provide our customers.”
LIO is a specialty commercial property and casualty carrier whose platform supports specialty classes including special events, amateur sports, health and wellness, nonprofit and social service organisations, community associations, and miscellaneous professional liability. The company said its digital-first platform uses AI-assisted submission workflows and can deliver bindable quotes in minutes, while keeping underwriters involved in risk selection and decision-making. Insureon’s licensed producers will also be able to access LIO offerings for customers with specialised commercial risks.
Tim Maguire, president and chief revenue officer of LIO Insurance, said the partnership reflected a shared philosophy.
“We built LIO on the belief that technology should amplify expert underwriting judgment, not replace it,” said Maguire. “Insureon shares our focus on making commercial insurance simpler and more accessible.”
Maguire said the relationship will extend LIO’s specialty underwriting expertise and technology to more small businesses.
The partnership expands Insureon’s carrier network and the insurance options available to small businesses through its digital platform. Insureon’s e-commerce platform lets customers compare commercial insurance quotes, buy policies, and manage coverage. The agency is licensed in all 50 states and serves small and midsize businesses across multiple industries.
LIO combines underwriting and claims expertise with technology for specialty commercial property and casualty coverage. The company is rated A- VIII by AM Best and said it is backed by A+ reinsurance partners.
