Insurtech Faura has joined Guidewire’s Insurtech Vanguards program, an initiative led by property and casualty (P&C) cloud platform provider, Guidewire, to help insurers learn about the newest insurtechs and how to best leverage them.
Faura won Guidewire’s 2024 Insurtech Vanguards Pitch Competition, demonstrating its value in addressing factors contributing to the protection gap.
“We realized that we had an incentives problem in the climate space and believe insurance is one of the biggest levers we can use to create real change, both in profitability for carriers and in resilience for policyholders. We’re extremely excited to take this next step with Guidewire and join the Insurtech Vanguard program. We know that this combination of resources and expertise will be super crucial moving forward,” said Valkyrie Holmes, CEO and Cofounder of Faura.
Insurtech Vanguards is a community of select startups and technology providers that are bringing novel solutions to the P&C industry. As part of the program, Guidewire provides strategic guidance to and advocates for the participating insurtechs, while connecting them with Guidewire’s P&C customers.
“The protection gap is only widening with the increase of natural disaster risk and it’s time we start thinking differently about property risk. We are extremely excited to welcome Faura to the Insurtech Vanguards program because of their innovative approach to resilience and profitability,” said Laura Drabik, Chief Evangelist of Guidewire.
Faura serves five perils – wildfire, hurricane, hail, flood, and earthquake – and has done thousands of assessments in every state across the United States. With a proprietary structure survivability model trained on the last one hundred years of loss data, Faura provides scores that unlock new business that would have otherwise been completely overlooked when relying on typical climate models.
