Cowbell Announces First UK Partnership with Global Cybersecurity Firm, Sophos
Sophos, a global cybersecurity innovator, has unveiled its inaugural cyber insurance partnership in the UK, joining forces with Cowbell, a prominent provider of cyber insurance tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Cowbell Broadens Cyber Insurance Reach for UK Mid-Market Enterprises

Building upon their successful collaboration initiated in March in the United States, Sophos and Cowbell are introducing adaptive cyber insurance capabilities to Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and endpoint customers in the UK.

The partnership enables Sophos UK customers to share their endpoint health information with Cowbell, unlocking exclusive pricing and policy offers that incentivise robust security measures. Through this collaboration, participating Sophos customers gain access to customised coverage options, comprehensive risk assessments, and continuous risk alerts supported by advanced AI monitoring and human assistance.

Darren Barker, the Regional Vice President of Sales Northern Europe at Sophos, said Cowbell’s recognition of the value inherent in Sophos’ security solutions, particularly Sophos MDR, which effectively mitigates the risk of major cyber incidents.“We are delighted that Cowbell recognises the value of our security solutions, including Sophos MDR, which mitigates the risk of major cyber incidents.”

He continued: “The partnership rewards organizations with rigorous cybersecurity postures through optimized insurance pricing and real-time feedback on how to improve their defenses. This ultimately ensures our customers not only have defensive cybersecurity in place, but also have peace of mind that they can get back up and running quickly in the wake of a cyberattack.”

Sophos’ research underscores the significance of cyber insurance in the UK, revealing that 84% of businesses have some form of coverage. However, 58% of respondents noted that the quality of their cyber defenses significantly influenced their ability to secure insurance, while 63% reported an impact on the cost of their policy. Crucially, organizations equipped with cyber insurance demonstrate a superior ability to recover data post-ransomware attack, benefiting from insurer assistance during the recovery process and the strength of their qualifying cyber defenses. This dual advantage positions them favorably in the data recovery landscape.

Simon Hughes, VP & General Manager for the UK at Cowbell, also commented, saying: “Cowbell is committed to making it easier for SMEs to obtain and understand cyber insurance as part of our overall cybersecurity strategy, particularly with the fast-paced evolution of cyber-attacks. Our expanded partnership with Sophos supports this commitment, and together we are providing easy, direct access to our cyber insurance, opportunities for dynamic risk assessment, solutions for improving risk profiles, and optimized premiums.”

He added:  “Our partnership with Sophos will expand access to cyber insurance to SMEs, an underinsured and underserved business audience, plus provide flexible options based on the size of the company and the coverage needed.”
