Bishop Street Underwriters Acquires Aerospace Insurance Managers, Expanding into Aviation Market
Bishop Street Underwriters, a portfolio company of RedBird Capital Partners, has acquired Aerospace Insurance Managers (AIM), a general aviation insurance services provider, from Hallmark Financial.

The acquisition marks Bishop Street’s official entry into the aviation insurance sector and represents another key milestone in the company’s ongoing growth strategy.

AIM specializes in providing general aviation coverage across 47 states, offering insurance solutions for aircraft hulls, aircraft and airport liability. The company primarily serves small aircraft used for business or pleasure, along with hangar owners, FBO operators, municipal and private airports, flight schools, and charter operators. AIM’s 16-person team will remain in place and continue to provide A+ rated coverage. Leadership will remain under Sean Kelley, Vice President – Chief Underwriting Officer, and Randy Kasen, Vice President – Business Development and Operations.

“This is an exciting new chapter for AIM, powered by access to new strategic partners and capital resources,” said Sean Kelley. “Joining the Bishop Street platform significantly strengthens our capabilities and positions us to grow while maintaining our commitment to top-tier client service.”

Randy Kasen added, “Bishop Street has created a strong home base for operators like us, who provide tailored services to specific audiences. Their focus on innovation and growth aligns perfectly with AIM’s vision, and we’re excited for what lies ahead.”

The acquisition of AIM follows a series of strategic moves by Bishop Street, including the acquisitions of Landmark Underwriting, Ethos Specialty’s Transactional Liability unit, Conifer Insurance Services, and the insurtech Ahoy!. The firm has also invested in Verve Services and established partnerships with Skyward Specialty Insurance and Topsail Re.

“We are pleased to welcome AIM to Bishop Street,” said Chad Weber, President of Bishop Street. “Their specialized expertise and strong reputation further diversify our portfolio and strengthen our platform as we continue expanding.”

Mike Zabik, Partner at RedBird Capital, noted, “The addition of AIM brings another high-performing, niche provider to our portfolio and complements our existing business lines. This marks the third carrier carveout Bishop Street has completed in under two years – demonstrating our ability to scale rapidly through targeted acquisitions and specialty team lift outs.”

The acquisition underscores Bishop Street’s broader strategy of building a diversified, best-in-class specialty underwriting platform through selective expansion and strategic alignment with expert teams across the insurance landscape.
