BirdsEyeView, the European Space Agency-backed insurtech specialising in natural catastrophe modelling and exposure management, today announced the launch of AI Data Scrubbing, a new capability designed to automate the cleaning and geolocation of Statement of Values (SOV) data for large-scale hazard modelling.
The platform applies advanced AI to automatically standardise, correct, and geolocate submitted Excel SOV files, converting raw exposure data into modelling-ready inputs in minutes. The solution addresses one of the industry’s most persistent bottlenecks: preparing exposure data before analysis. By automating this process, insurers and brokers can accelerate time-to-insight, improve data quality, and increase confidence in catastrophe modelling outputs.
Key features of AI Data Scrubbing include:
- AI-driven SOV data cleaning and formatting
- High-accuracy geolocation from address-level inputs
- Bulk processing of up to 10,000 locations per run, with upcoming releases scaling to 100,000 locations
- Outputs optimised for use across multiple peril models
The system was developed in collaboration with insurers, brokers, coverholders, and exposure management teams to reduce friction at the earliest stage of the modelling pipeline, enabling faster conversion of raw data into actionable risk insights.
James Rendell, CEO and Founder of BirdsEyeView, said: “Exposure data is the foundation of every catastrophe modelling decision, yet preparing it remains one of the most manual and error-prone tasks. With AI Data Scrubbing, underwriters and brokers can turn large, messy datasets into high-quality, geolocated, modelling-ready portfolios in minutes.
“Beyond efficiency, clean, structured data unlocks better modelling accuracy, faster underwriting decisions, and improved risk selection. As catastrophe risk grows more complex, the ability to scale data quality rapidly will be a real competitive advantage.”
BirdsEyeView’s platform combines high-resolution satellite imagery with AI analytics to deliver real-time risk assessment and live portfolio exposure management directly to underwriters’ desktops, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency.
