The ‘We Care’ programme underscores AXA UK’s steadfast commitment to nurturing a workplace culture where individuals not only excel in their roles but also feel supported and valued.

Originally launched across 51 markets worldwide by AXA Group, the ‘We Care’ programme seeks to continually enhance employee well-being and cultivate a more inclusive and supportive global workplace ethos.

While many elements of the global programme are already integrated into AXA UK’s practices, several new policies will be introduced:

  1. Carers Support: Under this policy, carers within the workforce can utilize dependent leave, whether they are primary caregivers or providing care to immediate family members. This leave can be utilized for planned activities, such as hospital appointments, in addition to unexpected emergencies.
  2. Focus on Families: Recognizing the challenges individuals face during difficult times, AXA UK is introducing enhanced support for employees experiencing pregnancy-related hardships. Employees who suffer a miscarriage before the 24th week of pregnancy will be entitled to five days of paid leave, while their spouse or partner will receive two days of paid leave. Moreover, in the tragic event of a stillbirth occurring after the 24th week, employees will be granted 16 weeks of full pay, with their spouse or partner eligible for two weeks of paid leave. Furthermore, starting from April 1, 2024, co-parents will benefit from an extended eight weeks of paid leave, a four-week increase from previous allowances.
  3. Domestic Abuse Support: Building upon its existing Domestic Abuse policy launched in July 2022, AXA UK is strengthening its support mechanisms for employees facing domestic abuse situations. This includes the provision of dedicated resources, access to a trained support team, and granting five days of paid leave to affected colleagues.

Speaking about the launch, Suzanne Scott, Chief People and Corporate Responsibility Officer, AXA UK, said: “I’m delighted we’re extending the support available to our people with the launch of the ‘We Care’ programme. A global initiative that supports our ambition of AXA UK&I being a place where people love to work.”

She added: “The access to increased paid carer’s leave and co-parent leave as well as additional support for domestic abuse are invaluable for the wellbeing of our people in taking care of themselves and their loved ones.”
