AXA has entered a strategic partnership with Publicis Sapient, a technology firm providing enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) platforms and services, to accelerate the next phase of its AI transformation.

The insurer confirmed that the partnership focuses on further developing “Global AI Hub” to scale AI agents safely, securely, and responsibly at speed across its operations. It combines AXA’s insurance, artificial intelligence, and responsible AI expertise with Publicis Sapient’s specialist AI talent and engineering solutions.

The Hub aims to provide shared, global, and standardised foundations for AI agents, reducing time-to-market and costs while enabling AXA entities to focus on creating business value rather than independently developing common AI infrastructure.

The move accelerates a group-wide and vendor-agnostic Hub deployment, whose first platform version was delivered in July and is in use across five AXA entities. It provides a secure foundation to implement, govern, and operate AI capabilities.

The Hub enables AI solutions to move efficiently from concept to production, supports technology independence, and embeds governance, FinOps, SafetyOps, security, compliance, and human oversight throughout the AI lifecycle. It also enhances the ability to allocate and orchestrate specific capabilities and LLMs across use cases strategically and cost-effectively, said AXA.

AXA entities in Germany, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and AXA XL are developing use cases spanning areas such as motor claims automation, customer email processing, and enterprise knowledge management.

Matthieu Caillat, group chief technology and AI officer, and chief executive officer of AXA Group Operations, said AI represented a significant opportunity for the group.

“Artificial intelligence represents a unique opportunity to enhance our innovation capabilities, support our employees and better serve our customers. As we continue to scale AI across the Group, our priority is to combine safe and efficient artificial intelligence, strong governance and practical business applications that create lasting value,” said Caillat. “Publicis Sapient brings together specialist AI expertise, enterprise AI solutions and global experience that will help us accelerate AI adoption consistently across our organisation, while maintaining the governance and flexibility required in a highly regulated business.”

David Murphy, head of financial services EMEA and APAC at Publicis Sapient, said enterprise AI delivered the greatest value when paired with strong engineering foundations.

“Enterprise AI delivers the greatest value when it combines deep industry expertise with strong engineering foundations. We are excited to partner with AXA to establish the enterprise AI capabilities, engineering approaches and the necessary governance to accelerate AI adoption securely and consistently across the Group in support of AXA’s long-term AI ambitions,” said Murphy.
