Antares Global has launched Scorpius MGA, a new managing general agent platform designed to unify the group’s MGA operations under a single structure while expanding its distribution capabilities across the UK and selected international markets.
The new platform will be led by CEO Ian Morris and is intended to centralize capacity access, governance, onboarding, and shared operational services for MGA partners. Through Scorpius, underwriting partners will gain access to Antares’ core capabilities, including pricing, catastrophe modelling, and exposure management, allowing specialist underwriters to focus more heavily on underwriting performance and risk selection.
The launch builds on Antares’ existing relationships with MGAs across its UK insurance company, Lloyd’s syndicate, and reinsurance operations. According to the company, Scorpius will primarily direct profitable MGA business toward Antares Insurance Company, strengthening the group’s presence in specialist and retail insurance segments.
The move follows a period of growth for Antares Global, which reported $1.08 billion in premium for 2025 alongside an undiscounted combined operating ratio of 91.2%. The company’s retail division, established in 2024 to expand distribution across the UK and Europe, also grew rapidly during its second year.
Unlike many traditional MGA platforms tied to a single capacity provider, Scorpius will also be able to place risks with third-party carriers when business falls outside Antares’ underwriting appetite. The company said this multi-capacity model is designed to retain high-quality opportunities while providing greater flexibility for brokers and underwriting partners.
“The platform is the natural progression to consolidate our long-standing relationship with the MGA market through a centralised, specialist platform. By providing MGAs with access to capacity and operational expertise, we enable talented underwriters to focus on what they do best: underwriting,” said Ian Morris, CEO of Scorpius MGA.
Mike van der Straaten, CEO of Antares Global, described the launch as a strategic evolution of the group’s MGA relationships and said the platform would support more effective capital deployment while expanding access to specialist markets.
“Launching Scorpius is the natural next step as we continue to expand, allowing Antares to deploy its capital more effectively while redefining MGA infrastructure for the next generation,” van der Straaten said.
The launch comes amid broader consolidation and platform expansion across the MGA market, as insurance groups increasingly seek tighter control over specialist distribution channels and delegated underwriting operations.
