MSIG Hong Kong has appointed Billy Wong as chief underwriting officer, effective 2 September 2026.

Wong has been tasked with leading the Underwriting Department and Specialty Lines to further strengthen underwriting capabilities, enhance portfolio performance, and deliver greater value to MSIG customers and business partners.

He brings nearly two decades of insurance experience across retail and commercial lines to the role, with expertise spanning underwriting, portfolio management, pricing, reinsurance, and product development. Over the course of his career, he has led teams, strengthened underwriting discipline, and driven sustainable business growth throughout Hong Kong and Greater China.

Wong joins MSIG Hong Kong following an eight-year tenure at AXA, where he most recently served as chief underwriting officer, general insurance, for AXA Hong Kong & Macau. He initially joined AXA in 2018 as head of property underwriting, Greater China, at AXA XL. He was then appointed head of P&C technical underwriting for AXA Hong Kong & Macau, before becoming P&C technical underwriting director within the same team.

His earlier career also includes tenures at Zurich and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.
