Leadership comments
Hironori Morimoto, Group Chief Global Officer and Senior Managing Executive Officer of MS&AD, said Shah’s experience made him well positioned to lead the company’s next stage of development.
“Ronak brings deep regional expertise, strategic insights and a strong track record of delivering results across complex and dynamic markets. We are confident he will build on MSIG’s strong heritage and presence across Asia, and lead MSIG Asia through its next phase of growth and value creation.”
Morimoto also thanked outgoing Regional CEO Clemens Philippi for his contribution to the development of the Asia business and welcomed his transition into MS&AD’s global strategy leadership role.
Shah said he intends to build on the company’s existing strengths while accelerating execution across the region.
“MSIG Asia has built a successful business with a clear sense of purpose, and I’m proud to be stepping in at such an important point in its journey. The company has a strong platform—with talented teams, deep customer relationships and a clear ambition for what it can achieve across Asia Pacific.”
He added:
“My focus is straightforward: sharpen our strategy, empower our people to execute with excellence, and create greater value for our customers and partners who count on us. The opportunity across this region is significant, and I intend to make the most of it.”
Strategic significance
The appointment comes as insurers continue to invest in regional leadership to capture growth opportunities across Asia-Pacific. By consolidating responsibility for Southeast Asia, Greater China, India, Oceania and Korea under a single regional CEO, MSIG Asia aims to improve execution, foster greater collaboration across markets and position the business for sustained growth in one of the world’s fastest-growing insurance regions.
