Global insurer American International Group (AIG) has announced the promotion of Neil Smallcombe to President of Lexington Insurance Company, AIG’s U.S. surplus lines insurer.
In his new role, Smallcombe will oversee Lexington’s A&E, Casualty, Healthcare, and Western World businesses, working closely with CEO Lou Levinson to strengthen Lexington’s position as a leading Excess & Surplus (E&S) market player.

An AIG spokesperson said, “With deep expertise in the wholesale market and a strong commitment to underwriting discipline, Neil exemplifies our deep bench of talent and leadership within AIG.”
Smallcombe joined Lexington’s London Casualty operation in 2003, holding positions of increasing responsibility. His experience includes underwriting both Primary and Excess General Casualty lines for large national accounts and middle-market clients. In 2013, he relocated to Chicago to lead AIG’s Lexington Casualty Surplus Lines platform across the Midwest.
With over two decades of industry experience, Smallcombe’s appointment is part of AIG’s broader strategy to build on Lexington’s E&S market leadership and continue delivering disciplined underwriting and innovative solutions to its clients.
