Nexus Underwriting has completed the acquisition of Sure Insurance Services, a managing general agent specialising in medical tourism insurance products, following receipt of regulatory approval. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2003 by Alison Thornberry, Sure Insurance Services has grown into a leading MGA for specialist medical travel insurance programmes, serving the fast-growing medical tourism market across the UK, Australia and South Africa. The business will now operate as part of Millstream Underwriting, which has been owned by Nexus since 2015.
Sure’s established expertise in medical travel insurance strengthens Millstream’s specialist underwriting capabilities and supports Nexus’ broader strategy of delivering high-quality underwriting and claims services to brokers and policyholders. Alison Thornberry and her team will remain with the business following the acquisition, ensuring continuity of service, expertise and client relationships. The integration will be overseen by Rob Amati, Managing Director of Millstream Underwriting.
