Agile enters construction underwriting with Gordon McNab at the helm
Agile has expanded its portfolio with the launch of construction underwriting, a move that underscores the company’s strategic push into the contract works insurance market. The launch follows the appointment of Gordon McNab as Head of Construction, a respected figure known for his extensive technical expertise and long-standing influence in the sector.

McNab has been working with Agile in preparation for the launch and now takes charge of the new class of business. The division is supported by Agile’s own Lloyd’s syndicate, Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate AUS2427, alongside a panel of leading Lloyd’s partners, providing strong market backing for its product suite.

In his new role, McNab will focus on developing a robust contract works product offering while leading Agile’s broader construction underwriting strategy. He is widely recognised as one of the market’s leading voices and brings with him a reputation for technical precision and pragmatic leadership.

Agile chief executive officer Robin Barham welcomed the appointment, highlighting McNab’s fit with the company’s culture and ambitions. “We are thrilled to have Gordon’s expertise onboard to lead our construction business. He brings the kind of deep technical knowledge, pragmatism, and mentoring spirit that perfectly aligns with Agile’s values. He will play a key role in delivering the underwriting precision and broker support that Agile is known for,” Barham said.

McNab said the opportunity to build a new line of business with Agile was an exciting challenge. “Joining Agile means working alongside a professional team of underwriters who are passionate about innovation and client service. I am looking forward to bringing my experience to help shape this new division and to share the knowledge I have built over the years,” he commented.

With the addition of construction, Agile now offers a wider range of products that include accident and health, aviation, casualty, cyber, drones, financial lines, marine, and property. The company continues to write business through licensed brokers and coverholders on a direct, reinsurance, or wholesale basis.
