Company: Marsh

Move: Marsh apponts Andrew George as President of Marsh Specialty 

Marsh has announced the appointment of Andrew George as President of Marsh Specialty, effective immediately. 

The company also confirmed that John Donnelly, President, Global Placement, will join George on the Marsh Executive Committee.

Andrew George, based in London, will now oversee Marsh Specialty’s global operations, reporting directly to Martin South, President and CEO of Marsh. His responsibilities encompass a broad portfolio, including Aviation, Climate & Sustainability, Construction, Credit Specialties, Energy & Power, Financial and Professional Lines (FINPRO) – which includes Cyber, Marine & Cargo, and Private Equity, Mergers and Acquisitions (PEMA).

Move: Rob Poliseno appointed Division President, Chubb North America Middle Market, and Jason Ranucci, Chief Operating Officer of new USA division

Chubb has announced the creation of a new division, North America Small & Lower Midmarket, consolidating its Lower Middle Market and Digital Small Business divisions to better serve these growing segments.

The new division, operating within Chubb’s North America Middle Market organization, is designed to enhance service delivery and streamline operations for small and lower middle market businesses.

Rob Poliseno has been appointed Division President, Small & Lower Midmarket, and will report to Ben Rockwell, Division President, Chubb North America Middle Market. Jason Ranucci will serve as Chief Operating Officer, Small & Lower Midmarket, reporting to Poliseno. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Move: WTW Appoints Massimo Cavadini to Lead Insurance Analytics in Continental Europe

WTW has announced the appointment of Massimo Cavadini as Head of Product, Pricing, Claims and Underwriting for Continental Europe. This newly created role aims to bolster WTW’s leadership in insurance analytics.

Cavadini will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of WTW’s consulting and software solutions in claims processing, underwriting, and data science across all functions within Continental Europe.

He joins WTW from Munich Re, where he served for nearly eight years, most recently as Senior Executive Partner and Global Leader of Insurance Solutions – Global Consulting. Prior to Munich Re, Cavadini held actuarial pricing roles at Generali and Allianz.

Move: AEGIS London Appoints Charity Bare as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer

Lloyd’s syndicate AEGIS London has announced the appointment of Charity Bare as its new Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

Bare’s appointment is aimed at reinforcing AEGIS London’s commitment to maintaining its position as a leading Lloyd’s performer while upholding strong risk controls. She will lead a team of 16 professionals encompassing risk, exposure management, compliance, and regulatory affairs.

Reporting directly to Alex Powell, CEO of AEGIS London, Bare will also join the Executive Leadership Team.

Move: Gallagher Bassett Appoints Katie Lamb as EMEA General Counsel

Gallagher Bassett, a leading provider of risk and claims management services and a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., has announced the appointment of Katie Lamb as General Counsel-GB Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA).

Lamb brings nearly 15 years of insurance industry experience to the role, having previously held senior legal positions at CNA Hardy. Her career began at Clyde & Co, where she advised on M&A transactions and various corporate legal matters.

Throughout her career, Lamb has provided counsel on a wide range of legal issues, leading legal, company secretarial, and compliance functions.

Move: QBE Re Appoints Tracey Gibbons as Global Head of Strategic Development

QBE Re, the reinsurance division of QBE Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Tracey Gibbons as its new Global Head of Strategic Development.

Gibbons, a seasoned industry veteran with over 40 years of experience across various business classes, joined QBE Re in 2021 as Head of QBE Re, Bermuda.

Prior to QBE Re, Gibbons held significant roles, including Senior Vice President at Third Point Re (now SiriusPoint) and 16 years as SVP Specialty Treaty at Allied World Re. Her extensive career also includes positions at Overseas Partners and Highland Fidelity, the Bermuda-based captive insurance company for the Thompson Group (now Thomson Reuters).

Move: Lockton Re appoints Rodrigo Botti as Treaty Country Head of Brazil

Move: DUAL UK appoints Rob Best as Underwriting Leader

DUAL UK, the specialist underwriting arm of Howden Group, has announced the formation of its new Climate Risk & Resilience (CR&R) underwriting team, which will be led by Rob Best.

The CR&R team will focus on developing and introducing a suite of insurance products designed to support businesses navigating the complexities of decarbonization and sustainability as they strive towards net-zero emissions. These products aim to facilitate investment in climate-related initiatives, addressing the growing demands of the sustainability transition.

Rob Best brings four decades of experience in the London insurance market to his new role, having built successful teams at JLT, Gallagher, and Willis. He will be supported by David Sparrow, former CEO of Built Asset Consultancy EC Harris and member of the Global Management committee of Environmental Consultancy Arcadis.

VIG Re announced the confirmation of Viktor Faucret as Managing Director of VIG Re France and Head of the Treaty Non-Life to lead the company’s Western European business unit.

Viktor Faucret joined VIG Re in October 2017, playing a key role in the launch of its Paris operations. He actively contributed to the development of the Treaty Non-Life portfolio and more specifically by leading our underwriting team for France & BeNeLux. His dedication over the past seven years has been pivotal in building the VIG Re brand in the region and this appointment to the role of Managing Director is a clear recognition of this achievement. As Head of Western European business unit, he will be driving further developments in France, BeNeLux, Iberia and the Maghreb region.

In this newly established role, Sweeney will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of credit risk across Concert Group, including its admitted carrier, Concert Insurance Company, its non-admitted carrier, Concert Specialty Insurance Company, and its risk retention vehicle, Harmony Re.

Sweeney brings over two decades of experience in finance and corporate development within the property and casualty re/insurance industry to Concert Group. He will report directly to Chief Executive Officer John Hendrickson.

Aon has appointed Rob McDonough as Chief Executive Officer of Construction, Infrastructure, & Surety, North America, and Brian Hodges as Head of Surety, North America

Rob McDonough will rejoin Aon as Chief Executive Officer of construction, infrastructure, and surety, North America, while Brian Hodges joins as Head of surety, North America. Both will report to Brian Wanat, Head of commercial risk for North America at Aon.

McDonough, based in New York, will lead the strategy and growth of the business, focusing on leveraging Aon’s investments in data, analytics, and content. The pair will step into their new roles in the coming weeks.

Compre Group Holdings Limited (Compre), a Bermuda-domiciled legacy group, has announced the appointment of John Howard, former CEO of Truist Insurance Holdings (TIH), as its independent non-executive chairman.

Howard brings over three decades of extensive insurance and senior executive leadership experience from top-tier financial services organisations to Compre.

Most recently, Howard served as CEO of TIH, where he held various leadership roles over his 20-year tenure. On January 1, 2025, he transitioned to the role of vice chair of TIH and continues to serve on its board of managers. He also holds an Independent Non-Executive Director position at Everest.

Howard’s distinguished career includes executive leadership positions at prominent organizations such as Prudential Financial, GE, and Conseco, Inc.

Move: HP Reinsurance Appoints Matt Walters as Chief Operating Officer

HP Reinsurance SPC Ltd. (HP Re), a Cayman Islands-based reinsurer established by North Carolina investment adviser Hale Partnership Capital Management, has announced the appointment of Matt Walters as Chief Operating Officer, effective April 2, 2025.  

Walters joins HP Re after a distinguished career at major investment banks, most recently serving as Group Head of Syndicated and Acquisition Financing within Wells Fargo’s Debt Capital Markets business for the past five years.  

Bringing two decades of transaction experience, Walters has led over 850 deals, raising more than $1.8 trillion in capital commitments, including over $500 billion in underwritten financing for strategic transactions.  

In his new role at HP Re, Walters will be responsible for driving the company’s growth by developing and delivering innovative solutions to global insurers and reinsurers. He will also focus on diversifying HP Re’s exposure and expanding its activities within the loss portfolio transfer (LPT) market.

Move: AXA XL appoints Louise Nevill as Chief Underwriting Officer – Specialty and Sundeep Khera as Head of Marine and Energy

AXA XL’s UK & Lloyd’s Business Unit has announced the appointment of Louise Nevill as Chief Underwriting Officer – Specialty and Sundeep Khera as Head of Marine and Energy, reflecting a strategic restructuring of the firm’s underwriting model.

These appointments, under the leadership of Chief Underwriting Officer Mike Gosselin, aim to strengthen AXA XL’s specialty offerings.

Louise Nevill, reporting to Gosselin, will lead the Specialty pillar, which includes Equine, Livestock & Aquaculture; Fine Art & Specie; Sports, Media and Entertainment; Political Violence, Security Risk and Product Recall; Political Risk, Credit & Bond; and Energy, Marine and Aerospace.

Sundeep Khera will transition to his expanded leadership role as Head of Marine and Energy, reporting to Nevill upon her arrival later this year. Khera has been serving as Global Chief Underwriting Officer – Marine Hull, and Head of Marine Underwriting, UK & Lloyd’s since 2021.
