In his new role, Haagen will oversee underwriting standards and governance, risk appetite and portfolio aggregation, underwriting talent management, and the company’s ceded reinsurance strategy. He will also chair Westfield’s Enterprise Underwriting Portfolio Strategy Committee and provide strategic insights aimed at driving profitable growth and return on equity.
Haagen joins Westfield from HIVE Underwriters Limited, where he served as chief development officer and board member. At Allianz, he managed nearly 1,800 professionals and spearheaded a major turnaround that transformed an underperforming portfolio into a growing, profitable business.
“Henning brings deep expertise and leadership that will strengthen our enterprise underwriting strategy and portfolio management capabilities,” said Ed Largent, Westfield’s CEO and board chair. “His impressive experience in underwriting leadership, global distribution, and portfolio performance will enhance our ability to deliver disciplined, profitable growth and advance our commitment to underwriting excellence.”

Together with our underwriting teams, I look forward to shaping strategies that deliver consistent underwriting excellence, profitable growth, and greater impact in the marketplace.”
