Over the course of his career, he has held senior technology roles at major financial institutions, including TD Bank, Banco Santander, Barclays, Lehman Brothers, and JPMorgan Chase.

In his new role, Griffiths will be responsible for overseeing USAA’s technology strategy, infrastructure, and digital platforms, with a focus on ensuring secure, reliable, and seamless digital experiences for members. His appointment comes at a time when USAA is accelerating its investments in technology to support digital innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and provide personalized solutions for the military community it serves.
Griffiths highlighted the member-centric focus of his role, stating, “Technology is how members experience our promise. We will prioritize secure platforms, intuitive digital journeys and the engineering rigor that keeps USAA always-on. My goal is to translate reliability and simplicity into member value, so every interaction feels effortless, protected and personal.”
Under Griffiths’ leadership, USAA plans to continue evolving its technology infrastructure to meet the growing expectations of its members. This includes enhancing digital tools for insurance, banking, and investment services, integrating advanced cybersecurity measures, and leveraging data-driven insights to improve the overall member experience.
Juan C. Andrade, President and CEO of USAA, emphasized the strategic importance of this leadership addition: “This leadership addition reflects our continued focus on service excellence, operational strength and delivering meaningful value to our members. Dan brings the experience and discipline to deliver on our commitments to members through secure, reliable and intuitive technology. His leadership strengthens how we deliver protection, advice and experience‑led value for the military community we are privileged to serve.”
Andrade noted that technology plays a central role in USAA’s promise to its members, who include military personnel, veterans, and their families. By combining robust platforms with intuitive digital experiences, USAA aims to provide members with fast, secure, and seamless access to financial and insurance services.
Griffiths’ appointment is expected to support USAA’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives, including the modernization of legacy systems, expansion of self-service capabilities, and deployment of advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions. The insurer has highlighted technology as a key enabler in delivering efficient, scalable, and personalized services, and Griffiths’ track record in driving large-scale IT transformations positions him to lead these efforts.
With more than two decades of experience at leading financial institutions, Griffiths brings both operational expertise and strategic vision. His experience in managing complex IT operations, digital transformation programs, and technology-driven business initiatives aligns with USAA’s goal of maintaining its position as a technology-forward, member-first insurer.
