HDI Global UK & Ireland has named Tom Potter as Chief Underwriting Officer – Long Tail, effective 1 February 2026.
In his new role, Potter will lead the firm’s long-tail underwriting strategy across Liability, Life Sciences, Motor Fleet, and Cyber, further strengthening technical capabilities and aligning with HDI’s broader underwriting leadership structure. He will report directly to Simon Hunt, interim CEO of HDI Global UK & Ireland.

Potter joins the CUO role from his position as Director of Liability, where he played a key role in developing HDI’s liability underwriting strategy.
With over 15 years of underwriting experience, Potter has significant expertise across Casualty, Environmental, Construction, and Property lines. Prior to joining HDI in September 2025, he held senior leadership roles at AXA XL, including Global Casualty Underwriting Manager for UK & Lloyd’s within the Global Chief Underwriting Office.
This appointment highlights HDI Global UK & Ireland’s focus on enhancing technical underwriting leadership in long-tail lines, reinforcing its commitment to delivering specialist solutions for clients and brokers.
