Scheduled for January 22–25 at Torrey Pines Golf Course, the partnership aims to ensure the safety of players, fans, staff, and sponsors by mitigating aerial threats.
SkySafe’s state-of-the-art drone detection technology is designed to identify and neutralise unauthorised drones, offering real-time insights into potential threats. This capability allows tournament organisers to respond swiftly to unauthorised aerial activity without the need for extensive hardware infrastructure.
“Our technology gives tournament organisers real-time visibility into aerial threats like rogue drones, enabling swift responses to unauthorised activity,” said Melissa Swisher, Chief Revenue Officer at SkySafe. “We’re honoured to support tournament security and help protect everyone in attendance.”
The partnership also ensures that only approved drones—primarily those operated by media partners such as the Golf Channel and CBS—can operate within the event’s airspace. SkySafe’s technology actively monitors these authorised drones while alerting organisers and the Unified Command team to any unauthorised activity. The system provides precise details, including the exact launch location of rogue drones, enabling law enforcement to respond effectively.
Andrew Harmatys, Chief Operating Officer of the Century Club of San Diego, the organisation behind the Farmers Insurance Open, emphasised the importance of this collaboration “The safety of our players, fans, and sponsors is our top priority. We’re proud to be among the leaders embracing drone detection technology to enhance safety at our tournament. SkySafe’s solution has been a valuable addition to our event.”
With increasing crowds and global attention, security has become a critical focus for the Farmers Insurance Open. By leveraging SkySafe’s cutting-edge technology, the event continues to set a standard for safety in major sporting events, ensuring a secure environment for all attendees while maintaining the integrity of the game.
