Bhappu, who will be based in Hong Kong, will report to the current CEO, Goh Chye Huat. On October 1, 2025, Bhappu will officially assume the role of CEO of Howden Asia, reporting to David Howden, CEO of the Howden Group.
At the same time, Goh Chye Huat will transition to the role of Chairman for the Asia region and Private Wealth, succeeding Mark Wood, who will continue to lead Howden’s Global Specialty Practices.
Bhappu joins Howden after a 22-year tenure at Marsh McLennan, where he held various leadership roles across territories including the United States, India, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Most recently, he served as CEO of Marsh McLennan Hong Kong and Macau, overseeing the successful integration of JLT following its acquisition by Marsh in 2019. Bhappu also has extensive experience leading sales and mergers & acquisitions practices in Asia, equipping him with a robust skill set for his new role at Howden.
David Howden praised Goh’s leadership, noting, “From modest beginnings in Asia, Chye Huat has taken the business on an incredible journey. He has built a very special business in South-East Asia, transforming us from a small, relatively unknown operation to a top broker in all the markets in which we operate. The growth and development of Asia’s economies continues to be extraordinary, and our ambition to meet the needs of clients in those economies is stronger than ever. We warmly welcome Rohan to the business as we continue to attract the best talent and deliver to those needs.”
Expressing his gratitude, Goh Chye Huat said, “After close to a decade in post, I am delighted to be able to pass the baton to Rohan, and that he will lead Howden Asia into its next chapter. I am honored to have assembled and led a talented team as we have built a leading broker in the region, proudly serving our clients from Private Wealth to our growing international client base. I look forward to supporting Rohan as we reach out into new territories and continue to bring choice, dedicated service, and deep expertise to every client.”
Rohan Bhappu will officially join Howden after fulfilling his contractual obligations with Marsh McLennan.
