Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) has appointed Logan Blake as President of Bermuda Operations, reinforcing the global life and health reinsurer’s leadership team as it continues to expand its presence in the key reinsurance hub.
Blake brings more than two decades of actuarial and reinsurance experience spanning capital management, product development, pricing, accounting frameworks and life and annuity markets. His appointment underscores RGA’s strategic focus on Bermuda as an increasingly important centre for capital-efficient reinsurance structures and long-term growth.
Extensive actuarial and reinsurance expertise
Blake joins RGA from Somerset Reinsurance, where he served as Chief Actuary. In that role, he was primarily responsible for overseeing the company’s IFRS 17 reporting framework and managing its Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) capital position.
Prior to Somerset, Blake worked at Athene, holding the position of Reinsurance Actuarial Pricing Director. There, he led the development and pricing of new products for flow reinsurance treaties and played a key role in structuring UK pension block transactions, including liability analysis, portfolio design and legal entity structuring.
Earlier in his career, Blake held senior actuarial roles at CNO Financial Group and OneAmerica, gaining experience across individual life, group life and disability insurance segments.
Strengthening Bermuda operations
RGA said the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to Bermuda, a jurisdiction that has become central to global life and annuity reinsurance due to its regulatory framework, capital flexibility and proximity to major insurance markets.
In a LinkedIn post announcing his move, Blake said he was “very excited to be joining a world-class organization” and looked forward to helping advance RGA’s Bermuda platform.
“A strong commitment to Bermuda is great for RGA and great for the island as well,” he added.
Strategic importance of Bermuda
The appointment comes amid continued growth in Bermuda’s life reinsurance sector, where insurers and reinsurers are increasingly establishing operations to support capital optimisation, pension risk transfer transactions and cross-border reinsurance solutions.
RGA’s Bermuda operations play a key role in supporting the group’s global clients with structured reinsurance solutions, particularly in life and annuity business lines that require sophisticated actuarial and capital management expertise.
The company said Blake will focus on further developing the Bermuda platform while supporting RGA’s broader global growth strategy across life and health reinsurance markets.
