Volt Underwriting deploys Novee AI for power and renewables underwriting

London-based managing general agent (MGA) Volt Underwriting has partnered with insurtech firm Novee to deploy an artificial intelligence platform aimed at enhancing underwriting capabilities across its power and renewable energy portfolio.

The collaboration introduces an AI-driven intelligence layer designed to help underwriters manage complex insurance submissions that frequently include engineering surveys, historical loss reports and extensive schedules of values.

AI to streamline complex underwriting data

According to the companies, Novee’s platform enables semi-automated cleansing and structuring of submission data, allowing exposure information to be prepared for direct use in catastrophe modelling and pricing tools.

Power and renewable energy risks often involve highly technical documentation and large datasets that require significant manual processing. By automating tasks such as schedule cleansing and data extraction, the technology is intended to reduce administrative workload while improving data quality and consistency.

The system also analyses engineering and loss information to generate underwriting insights, providing additional decision support for Volt’s underwriting teams.

Integration with existing workflows

Rather than replacing core underwriting systems, Novee’s platform operates as an overlay that integrates into existing workflows. The intelligence layer structures unformatted submission data and converts it into actionable insights while allowing insurers and MGAs to continue using their current technology infrastructure.

The companies said this approach enables faster adoption while minimising operational disruption.

Supporting growth in energy transition risks

Volt Underwriting, a Lloyd’s-approved coverholder headquartered in London, specialises in energy sector risks spanning both conventional power assets and renewable energy projects. The firm writes business across a range of global energy markets as demand for renewable infrastructure insurance continues to grow.

The deployment reflects a broader industry trend toward applying artificial intelligence to underwriting processes, particularly in specialised sectors such as energy and renewables where risk evaluation depends heavily on technical documentation and complex exposure data.

By leveraging AI-assisted data processing, Volt aims to improve underwriting efficiency while strengthening risk assessment capabilities in a rapidly evolving energy insurance market.
