The collaboration combines MIS’s intelligence analysis – originally developed for military applications – with Eagleview’s extensive pre- and post-event aerial imagery. Together, the companies aim to provide insurers with faster and more accurate assessments of damage caused by hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, wildfires, and other large-scale events.
Through the agreement, MIS clients will gain access to Eagleview’s aerial image library, broadening event coverage and improving the depth of post-disaster assessments delivered via MIS’s GEO platform. In turn, Eagleview customers will be able to use GEO and its archive of more than 200 global catastrophe events, enabling them to host portfolio data and overlay imagery with exposure, claims, and building-level analysis.
According to MIS, the joint offering will allow insurers to make informed claims decisions within days of a catastrophe. Forbes McKenzie, CEO and founder of MIS, said the partnership “further establishes GEO as the go-to disaster response platform for carriers” by uniting leading intelligence and imagery capabilities.
Over the past year, MIS has produced detailed reports on 25 North American catastrophe events and monitored 42 more, covering perils ranging from hurricanes to wildfires. In the same period, Eagleview captured 34,000 square kilometres of aerial imagery across the continent, including 60 flights covering 26 distinct events.
David Bairstow, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Eagleview, said the collaboration marked “a major evolution” in the way both firms serve insurers. “Bringing these leading market offerings together will deliver major benefits for our users,” he said, adding that the initiative comes as the frequency and severity of US catastrophes continue to rise.
Eagleview’s imagery is now available within MIS’s GEO platform, while Eagleview clients can access GEO’s data and analysis tools immediately.
