Lloyd’s Announces Four Vacancy Updates to its Council Membership
Lloyd’s, the premier global marketplace for insurance and reinsurance, has disclosed updates to its Council membership subsequent to recent elections aimed at filling four vacancies.

The Council of Lloyd’s will see the following modifications:

  • Sean McGovern, representing AXA XL Syndicate Limited, has been elected uncontested as a “Corporate-External” member of the Council.
  • Marcus Johnson has been elected uncontested as an “Individual-External” member of the Council.
  • Following the conclusion of the Working Members ballot, Andrew Brooks and Vicky Carter have been re-elected as Working Members of the Council, retaining their roles as Deputy Chairs. The terms of their renewed office will commence on December 1, 2023.
  • Sean McGovern, the CEO of UK & Lloyd’s at AXA XL, boasts nearly three decades of experience in the Lloyd’s market, having held various positions, including General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer, Franchise Board Member, and Director of North America.

Marcus Johnson, elected to Lloyd’s in 1983, currently serves as Deputy Chair and Director of Kirly Group Holdings, also holding the position of Chair of the ALM.

Sean McGovern takes the place of Karen Green (representative of Asta Managing Agency), while Marcus Johnson succeeds Jeffery Barratt (representative of Nameco 1249). Both Green and Barratt will step down on November 30, 2023, after dedicated contributions of 9 and 7 years, respectively, to Lloyd’s Council.

With their knowledge and guidance, we’ve made good progress against Lloyd’s strategic pillars and with the addition of our newest Council members are in good stead to continue to make our market thrive.”
