Concurrently, the company has also launched a YouTube channel, “Insurance Telematics,” to provide educational content related to smartphone-based telematics.
The release of the platform and educational resource occurs within a market environment characterised by increasing regulatory pressures and consumer demand for personalised insurance products. Dolphin Technologies aims to provide tools and information to support insurers in adapting to these market trends.
The platform uses a “Project Code” system, which enables insurers to create and deploy branded telematics pilots. The system involves the generation of a unique code, customisation of app branding, and distribution to users. Data collection is facilitated through the MOVE Pilot application, with data transmitted to an insurer-accessible dashboard. This process aims to reduce the development time typically associated with telematics pilot deployments.
“The ability to build a telematics demo app in just minutes eliminates one of the biggest barriers to innovation in the insurance industry,” says Harald Trautsch, CEO of Dolphin Technologies. “And to further support insurers on this journey, our new podcast, Insurance Telematics, explores what’s possible with telematics technology while debunking common myths that often hold companies back.”
Smartphone Telematics Application
The platform supports the implementation of smartphone telematics, which allows insurers to collect driving behavior data via smartphone sensors. This approach offers an alternative to traditional hardware-based telematics systems. The no-code platform is intended to facilitate the adoption of usage-based insurance (UBI) and dynamic pricing models.
The “Insurance Telematics” YouTube channel provides educational content, including tutorials, case studies, and interviews, related to smartphone telematics. Topics covered include data privacy and UBI program design. The channel is intended to support industry knowledge and adoption of telematics technology.
