Wunderlich, who joins the firm today, will be based in Zurich and report directly to Richard Montminy, Group Head of Property Risks.
The appointment underscores Beazley’s growing focus on parametric solutions, which are increasingly being adopted to address the rising complexity of risks facing property owners and businesses globally. Parametric insurance provides rapid, transparent payouts triggered by predefined events—an approach that has gained traction amid escalating natural catastrophe exposures and climate-related threats.
Wunderlich brings over 20 years of experience in modelling and underwriting property and natural catastrophe risks. He joins from Swiss Re, where he held several senior roles, including leading efforts to develop parametric products for corporate clients and helping organizations manage climate risk more effectively.
“Property risks are ever more complex, requiring specialist solutions, effective modelling and underwriting expertise to deliver outcomes that meet the needs of businesses across the world,” said Montminy. “Parametric underwriting is a highly effective response to today’s risk environment, offering immediacy, certainty and scalability. Stefan is a seasoned expert with deep technical and leadership experience, and I look forward to working with him as we grow our parametric proposition.”
Beazley has demonstrated long-term commitment to the property sector, having tripled its property underwriting volume since 2022. The company has established a strong foothold in the U.S. excess and surplus (E&S) market, expanded its specialist property underwriting capabilities across Europe, and invested in selective parametric solutions to enhance its offering.
