BarmeniaGothaer has joined The Spark, the Global Prevention Lab, as a member, with Thomas Bischof, Member of the Board, appointed to The Spark’s Global Advisory Board.
The partnership marks a further step in the insurance industry’s shift toward prevention-focused business models, with a particular emphasis on SME non-life risks, operational resilience, and measurable loss reduction.

BarmeniaGothaer joins a growing group of insurers, reinsurers and brokers participating in The Spark, including Aon, Allianz, Generali, QBE Ventures and Travelers. Through the platform, members collaborate to move insurance beyond reactive claims payment toward proactive risk prevention and sustainable, profitable growth.
As part of its membership, BarmeniaGothaer will participate in collaborative research, strategic working sessions and proof-of-concept initiatives focused on mature and deployable technologies. The insurer will also contribute to defining annual prevention priorities and shaping execution roadmaps across property and casualty and specialty lines.
Through its advisory board role, BarmeniaGothaer will help guide The Spark’s strategic direction, including the selection of prevention use cases, alignment with carrier needs, and translation of insights into practical solutions that can be implemented by insurers.
The collaboration will formally begin at The Spark’s inaugural Global Prevention Workshop in London in early February, where senior executives from member organisations will align on 2026 prevention priorities and initiate the first wave of joint research and projects.
Industry observers say the partnership reflects a broader structural shift in insurance, as carriers increasingly seek to integrate prevention, data and technology into underwriting and risk management strategies. The growing momentum behind prevention-first models suggests that insurers are moving toward more execution-driven approaches that link risk mitigation directly to underwriting performance and customer value.
