Following the acquisition’s completion, Griffiths & Armour will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Aon UK, operating under the name “Griffiths & Armour, an Aon company.”
The acquisition is a strategic step in Aon’s broader goal to provide an expanded range of solutions for clients in the UK, Ireland, and beyond. Aon and Griffiths & Armour bring complementary strengths to the table, aiming to foster growth and deliver innovative services to their clients. Both companies share a strong cultural alignment, particularly in their commitment to clients and colleagues.
“As we continue to go further, faster to help our clients navigate growing uncertainty and volatility, we are looking forward to welcoming Griffiths & Armour to Aon,” said Greg Case, CEO of Aon. “Our complementary capabilities and cultures will create unmatched client and colleague experiences across the UK and Ireland and contribute to our global 3×3 Plan to accelerate our Aon United strategy.”
Founded in the north of England, Griffiths & Armour has a strong reputation nationally and internationally, especially in professional indemnity and general insurance. The broker employs around 200 people across its offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Dublin, and London. Aon has committed to maintaining Griffiths & Armour’s Liverpool office at Princes Dock, reinforcing its presence and dedication to local operations.
Carl Evans, CEO of Professional Risks for Griffiths & Armour, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. “Becoming part of the Aon family is the result of a meticulous search for a trusted partner,” he said. “This partnership ensures the future success of Griffiths & Armour and allows us to enhance and expand our client offerings, built on a culture we have honed for over 90 years.”
Matt Donnelly, CEO of General Insurance for Griffiths & Armour, echoed these sentiments. “We have long regarded Aon for its professionalism and client service excellence. This partnership will support continued growth while preserving the culture that we and our clients value. We are excited for this next chapter.”
Aon’s UK CEO, Jane Kielty, praised the acquisition, saying, “Griffiths & Armour is a brilliant business, bringing quality, expertise, and a solid growth platform to our firm. We’re thrilled to work with their leadership team to create exceptional outcomes for clients and colleagues alike.”
The transaction, pending customary regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025.
