In her new capacity, Chai, formerly the Head of Finance for U.S. Middle Market at Zurich, will take on the critical responsibility of leading all facets of Zurich North America’s Risk function. This includes overseeing group wide governance and risk management responsibilities, developing and implementing risk policies, monitoring adherence, and sponsoring projects and programs aligned with global initiatives. Chai will also play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with North America regulatory requirements.

In her latest role at U.S. Middle Market, Chai held the responsibility for overseeing financial planning, metrics, and reporting to guarantee the achievement of underwriting outcomes and efficient expense management. Before this position, she served as the Vice President & Actuary for Zurich North America’s Finance & Actuarial team. Her tenure with Zurich began in 2010, following experience in various actuarial roles encompassing both finance and data.

Chai holds the title of Fellow at the Casualty Actuarial Society and serves as a board member for Abacus Actuaries.

As Chief Risk Officer, Chai will be an integral member of Zurich’s global Leadership Team, the Risk Management Executive Committee, and Zurich North America’s Executive Committee. Based at Zurich North America’s headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, she will report directly to Zurich Group Head of Risk, Peter Giger.

This strategic appointment underscores Zurich North America’s commitment to fortifying its risk management capabilities and aligns with the company’s dedication to meeting regulatory standards while driving global initiatives forward under Chai’s leadership.
