Vantage launches Facultative Reinsurance business led by Lisa Pickard

Bermuda-based re/insurer Vantage Group Holdings has launched a Facultative Reinsurance line of business, led by Lisa Pickard, who has joined the company as President of Facultative Reinsurance.

The company announced the launch on 3 November. According to the release, the expansion marks a key milestone in Vantage's strategy to scale its specialty insurance and reinsurance lines following its acquisition by Howard Hughes Holdings in June 2026.

Pickard reports directly to Greg Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer of Vantage, and oversees the division's strategic direction, risk appetite, team recruitment, and broker-partner relationships. At Vantage, she will build the team, define the underwriting approach, and develop broker and client relationships for the new business.

Pickard brings decades of senior underwriting and operational leadership in the property facultative sector, according to the release. She began her career at Gen Re and later led underwriting teams and shaped portfolio strategy at Arch Re Facultative. She then became Arch Re's first Chief Strategy Officer, serving on the executive leadership committee. Most recently, she founded Atlas Gray, an advisory firm that works with insurance organisations on underwriting strategy, portfolio construction, operating models, and leadership development.

"Lisa brings rare depth as both an underwriting leader and strategist," said Marc Grandisson, Executive Chairman of Vantage. "Her track record of building high-caliber teams and scaling disciplined portfolios reflects the exact rigor we need as we establish our facultative line and drive Vantage's next phase of growth."

"Vantage has built a dynamic business that delivers tailored, data-driven solutions to clients," said Pickard, President of Facultative Reinsurance at Vantage. "I look forward to assembling a world-class team and partnering closely with our client community to provide disciplined, tailored facultative solutions that respond directly to complex risk environments while advancing Vantage's commitment to excellence and innovation."

The release did not disclose the capacity, territories, team size, or start date of the new business.

Established in 2020, Vantage is a re/insurer that combines underwriting with data-driven insight to deliver capacity to brokers and clients. It is backed by the permanent capital of Howard Hughes Holdings. Its operating subsidiaries, Vantage Risk Ltd., Vantage Risk Assurance Company, and Vantage Risk Specialty Insurance Company, are rated "A-" (Excellent) by AM Best with a Positive Outlook as of June 2026.
