Brown & Brown has introduced COMPASS, an initiative combining its proprietary data, analytics, insurance expertise, and AI capabilities to support risk assessment, insurance purchasing, and portfolio optimisation.

The brokerage expects COMPASS-powered knowledge assistants and business intelligence tools to reach thousands of employees by the end of 2026, starting in the US. An expanded suite of customer solutions across property and casualty, employee benefits, and personal lines is planned for early 2027.
Brown & Brown pointed to existing analytics capabilities as examples of the approach. It said customers using its Health Plan Intelligence tools experienced an average five-year cost trend below 4%, compared with an industry and market norm of approximately 7% to 9%. In another example, the company said COMPASS analytics helped a Fortune 50 customer restructure its insurance program, cutting premium spending by 65% while substantially reducing potential risk volatility.
Steve Hearn, president of Brown & Brown Retail, said the opportunity lay in connecting capabilities around everyday decisions.
“Insurance organizations have access to more data and technology than ever before, but the industry’s greatest opportunity is to connect those capabilities around the decisions customers and insurance professionals make every day. COMPASS brings together capabilities that have traditionally operated separately, giving our teams a more complete view of a customer’s risks and opportunities and helping turn fragmented information into relevant insight. That broader context can support more informed recommendations, better decisions and stronger outcomes across the insurance value chain,” said Hearn.
For personal lines, COMPASS will support digital quoting and servicing, while offerings for ultra-high-net-worth customers and single-family offices will include analytics to evaluate risk transfer and optimise insurance portfolios.
The initiative builds on Brown & Brown’s Digital Innovation and Insights Group and collaborations with Anthropic, McKinsey, and Accenture.
