CLARA Analytics has launched what it describes as the insurance industry’s first platform to combine claim-level document intelligence with predictive claims triage, aiming to help commercial insurers turn unstructured medical and legal documents into actionable claims insights.

The new integration connects the company’s Triage platform with CLARA DocIntel Pro, allowing data extracted from medical records, legal demands and other claims documents to feed directly into predictive models. Rather than treating document analysis and claims analytics as separate processes, the combined platform continuously updates claim risk assessments using information from unstructured files.

The move addresses a longstanding challenge for commercial insurers, where adjusters often rely on standalone document extraction tools or separate claims analytics platforms. By linking the two, CLARA aims to improve the accuracy of claims triage while reducing manual review.

According to the company, the integration enables richer model inputs, incorporating data such as comorbidities, prior injuries, treatment histories and legal demand information into existing risk models. As new documents are received, the platform updates risk scores and alerts to help identify potentially severe or high-exposure claims earlier in the lifecycle.

The company also introduced enhancements to DocIntel Pro, including a Visit Level Summary feature that organises medical records chronologically by patient visit instead of document page, creating a structured clinical timeline. CLARA said the approach can reduce the time adjusters spend reviewing medical records by 83%.

Another addition is In-Line Citations, which allows users to click directly from AI-generated summaries to the relevant section of the original document. The feature is intended to improve auditability and transparency by enabling adjusters to verify the source material behind AI-generated insights.

Heather Wilson, chief executive officer of CLARA Analytics, said the integration moves beyond simple document summarisation.

“For years, the insurance industry has treated document extraction and claims guidance as two separate workflows. With this integration, we are delivering true document-driven claims insights. This isn’t just about reading a document; it’s about allowing document-level insights to actively drive better claims decisions.”

Mubbin Rabbani, chief product officer at CLARA Analytics, said organising medical records around patient visits rather than pages gives adjusters a clearer picture of claim development while maintaining traceability through source citations.

The announcement reflects a broader trend across insurance claims technology, where AI vendors are increasingly embedding document intelligence directly into operational workflows instead of offering standalone extraction tools. By connecting unstructured claims data with predictive analytics, insurers are seeking to improve claims handling efficiency while providing adjusters with more explainable AI-generated recommendations.
