Compare the Market has launched a ChatGPT integration that allows users to estimate car insurance costs through a conversational interface, marking a further step in the embedding of generative AI within insurance distribution journeys.

Compare the Market has launched a ChatGPT integration that allows users to estimate car insurance costs through a conversational interface, marking a further step in the embedding of generative AI within insurance distribution journeys.

The platform, owned by BGL Group, is enabling users to generate indicative pricing for UK-registered private cars by entering a small set of details, including vehicle registration, postcode, age, and no-claims discount.

The tool retrieves relevant vehicle data automatically and returns an estimated annual premium. It is designed to give users a quick view of affordability before they proceed to a full quote process.

Positioned as a pre-quote experience, the integration keeps users within ChatGPT while supporting early-stage comparison of insurance costs. The aim is to streamline the initial research phase of the insurance buying journey, where users typically assess price ranges across providers.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in the UK, Compare the Market operates as a B2C insurance aggregator across multiple lines, including motor, life, health, travel, and property insurance.

The launch reflects a wider shift in the insurance sector towards conversational distribution and embedded comparison tools. Similar ChatGPT-enabled initiatives have been introduced by Mercury Insurance, Simply Business, and Jerry, as insurers and intermediaries test AI-driven customer acquisition and pricing engagement models.
