Global reinsurer Hannover Re has appointed Kun Huang as Chief Executive Officer of its Shanghai Branch, effective immediately, in a move that underscores the company’s continued commitment to the growing Chinese and Asia-Pacific reinsurance market.
Huang joins Hannover Re from Chaucer, where he spent the past six years, most recently serving as Chief Liaison Officer. He also previously served as Managing Director at China Re Underwriting Agency Ltd and as Director of the Risk Management Department at China Re, bringing deep regional expertise to his new role.
Hannover Re’s Shanghai Branch has been a core part of the company’s Greater China operations since its establishment in 1997 and upgrade to branch status in 2008, offering treaty and facultative reinsurance solutions across property & casualty and life & health lines. The Shanghai office prioritises long-term strategic client relationships, rapid responsiveness, and tailored support for both local and international insurers.

“Kun brings over 20 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry. He holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from Hunan University and is widely respected for his strategic insight, collaborative leadership, and deep industry expertise.”
