Cytora Expands Advisory Board with Appointment of Ed Giera
Cytora has expanded its global advisory board with the appointment of financial services veteran Ed Giera, a move designed to support the company’s continued international growth.

Ed Giera brings more than 40 years of experience as an executive and non-executive director in international capital markets and risk management. He currently serves as Chair of the Board Risk Committee and Non-Executive Director at Rothesay Life, a leading UK pension insurance company, where he has been a board member since 2021. His previous roles include Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Board Risk Committee at Santander UK, as well as Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Pension Insurance Corporation Group. During his executive career, Giera held senior positions with JP Morgan Chase & Co, including Managing Director and Global Head of Pensions Risk Advisory, Head of Capital Markets for EMEA and Head of Acquisition Finance.

Cytora’s advisory board includes a wide network of leaders across commercial and specialty insurance. Members include Bronek Masojada, Chair of SiriusPoint and former CEO of Hiscox, Kelly Lyles, board member at Convex and Howden Group, Jeffrey Hayman, Chair of R&Q Insurance Holdings and former board member at Zurich Insurance Group, Emmanuel Clarke, CEO of Intact Specialty and former CEO of PartnerRe, John Bruno, President of Xerox and former Group COO and CEO of Data and Analytic Services at Aon, and Bill Bloom, former CIO at The Hartford and Travelers.

Other members include Thomas Huerlimann, board member at Hiscox and former CEO of Zurich Global Corporate, James Platt, Operating Partner at Trimstone and former Aon Group COO, Adrian Brown, former UK CEO of RSA, Karen Green, board member of Miller Insurance Services, Hamilton Insurance Group and Phoenix Group Holdings, Laurent Rosseau, CEO of Guy Carpenter EMEA and former CEO of Scor, Clive Buesnel, Managing Partner at IAP and former CEO of Tysers, and Alan Morgan, former senior partner at McKinsey and head of financial services.

Together, the group brings extensive leadership experience from brokers, insurers and reinsurers, including expertise in driving large-scale transformation programmes. The expansion of the advisory board follows a period of significant growth for Cytora, highlighted by partnerships with Chubb, Arch, Everest and Trans Re.

Commenting on his appointment, Ed Giera said: “I’m tremendously excited about working with the Cytora team as they accelerate the digitisation of the insurance industry. I have supported the transformation of financial markets across banking, asset management and broader financial services through digitisation, and there is no doubt commercial insurance is on a similar accelerated trajectory.”

Richard Hartley, CEO of Cytora, welcomed the appointment and underlined Giera’s strategic value. “Ed is a strategic and thoughtful financial services board member who will bring great value to the advisory board. The transformative opportunity presented by artificial intelligence is a board-level priority, and it is a complex area for brokers, insurers and reinsurers to navigate and operationalise at scale. Ed’s expertise and breadth of experience across financial services will benefit our clients, partners and team.”
