MAPFRE Re Restructures to Strengthen Strategic Focus and Life Business Development
MAPFRE Re has announced a reconfiguration of its organizational structure, set to take effect on March 1, 2025, as part of its efforts to enhance strategic focus, expand its Life business, and strengthen relationships with clients and brokers.

The restructuring is aimed at improving agility and responsiveness to market changes while refining the company’s technical, commercial, and operational approach.

As part of the changes, Javier San Basilio has been appointed General Manager of MAPFRE Re, taking on direct coordination of the company’s regional divisions and overseeing the development of large clients and broker relationships. The Non-Group business will now be structured into two main divisions, with Carmen Bueso leading Non-Life Underwriting and Maite González heading the Life, Accident, and Health businesses. Both will assume their new responsibilities as Assistant General Managers.

Additionally, Ricardo Pérez has been named Manager of the Iberia/Latam regional area, joining MAPFRE Re’s Management Committee. The company’s global operations will now be structured across four regional areas, including Iberia/Latam, APAC, EMEA, and North America. The management of business coming from MAPFRE Group remains unchanged under Fernando Utrilla.

MAPFRE Re has also established a Strategy, Communication, Sustainability, and Innovation division, led by Juan Satrústegui, to integrate and enhance these critical business areas. The restructuring reflects MAPFRE Re’s commitment to growth, efficiency, and a more dynamic approach to serving its clients and business partners in an evolving global insurance market.

“These changes will enable us to move forward with greater agility and ambition in the MAPFRE Re strategy as we take on even greater challenges in the coming years. We’ll continue boosting the Non-Life business and drive the development of our Life business, where there are still huge growth opportunties.” said Miguel Rosa, CEO of MAPFRE Re.

Leveraging the talent and knowledge of the company’s professionals across the organisation is a key factor in making this change a reality at MAPFRE Re.
