MAPFRE Posts Strong Financial Performance for 2024’s First Nine Months
MAPFRE reported a net result of €744 million for the first nine months of 2024, reflecting a 36% year-over-year increase driven by improved technical management across all regions.

After a €90 million writedown of goodwill in Verti Germany, the attributable net earnings stand at €654 million, representing a 39% rise from last year.

The insurer attributes the robust performance to positive developments in both Non-Life and Life segments, along with successful regional contributions. IBERIA achieved a 15% growth in net income to €283 million, while LATAM, led by Brazil, continues to be MAPFRE’s largest profit contributor with €305 million in earnings, a 7.7% increase. The North American segment saw notable improvements as well, reflecting the efficacy of recent technical adjustments.

Premium income rose 4.6% to over €21.6 billion, with growth observed across various business lines. Non-Life insurance posted a combined ratio of 94.8%, improving by 2 percentage points, largely due to favorable underwriting measures and tariff updates. The Life sector also saw gains, particularly in the Life Protection line, which grew by 6.8% across markets like Mexico and Spain.

MAPFRE’s capital position remains solid, with shareholders’ equity up 4.5% to €8.4 billion, while adjusted ROE rose to 12%. Following strong results, MAPFRE has announced an 8% increase in its interim dividend to 6.5 cents per share.

MAPFRE’s Chairman and CEO, Antonio Huertas, highlighted the promising trajectory, stating, “These figures confirm the positive trends driven by our Strategic Plan. The increased dividend demonstrates our commitment to shareholders and confidence in MAPFRE’s future.”
